Equipment Repair & Field Mechanic - Entry Level
PNJ Engineering Inc. is looking for a hands-on entry level equipment repair person to maintain, service, and repair our the small equipment we use in our daily operations. No prior professional experience is required but is preferred.
The most important attribute is your ability to diagnose equipment problems and a good mechanical aptitude with a hands-on practical mindset. The position involves the repair of generators, concrete drilling equipment, concrete air testing devices, small mechanical/power equipment used around the office and job sites. At times, we you may be requested to fabricate equipment or tools as needed to solve basic testing related issues.
The role involves both in-office repairs and travel to job sites to service equipment that can't be brought back to the office. Having your own vehicle and general tools & equipment is a must.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and small engine issues on equipment listed above.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance. (oil changes, filter replacement, calibration checks, etc.)
- Keep accurate maintenance logs and repair records.
- Order replacement parts and manage basic equipment inventory.
- Test equipment after repairs to confirm proper function.
- Follow safety procedures when working with fuel-powered and pressurized.
- Travel to job sites as needed to repair or service equipment that cannot be brought back to office.
- Create or invent equipment or tools/jigs, forms as need out of necessity for specific projects.
- Maintain & track company vehicles.
- Good mechanical aptitude — a natural ability to understand how machines and equipment work.
- Comfortable using hand tools (or willing to learn).
- Understanding of basic engines, hydraulics, electrical, and structural components.
- Ability to follow instructions, equipment manuals, and basic diagrams.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
- Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn on the job.
- Any previous experience with coring machines, concrete air meters, nuclear densometers, small engines, general construction equipment such as saws, compressors and air lines, etc.
