<strong>Summary<br><br></strong>As part of Guidewire’s Product Development & Operations (PDO) organization, you’ll join the PricingCenter team that designs and builds the pricing engine at the heart of how P&C insurers rate and underwrite risk in the cloud. We work in a highly collaborative, hybrid environment, pairing closely with product, UX, and data teams to deliver secure, reliable services at scale. Our stack centers on Python, modern web APIs, and cloud‑native architectures.<br><br>In this role, you will be a product‑focused Python engineer who owns features end‑to‑end—from exploring requirements through to production reliability. You’ll help shape new pricing and rating capabilities, build performant APIs and services, and guide technical decisions that support PDO’s FY26 priorities around AI, cloud adoption, and operational excellence. You will partner with peers across Guidewire to ensure PricingCenter is a market‑leading pricing solution that helps insurers modernize, automate, and gain insight from their pricing strategies, directly contributing to Guidewire’s mission to transform how the world’s P&C insurers do business.<br><br><strong>Job Description<br><br></strong>What you’ll do<br><br><ul><li>Execute engineering tasks utilizing Python (RESTful APIs using Flask and FastAPI with extensive use of SQLAlchemy and Pydantic)</li><li>Design and build proprietary solutions involving insurance pricing algorithms, modeling, and data visualizations.</li><li>Partner with product management to convert business needs into secure, high-quality production features, applying professional judgment to choose appropriate tools and architectural patterns.</li><li>Manage the full development lifecycle: analyze requirements, architect solutions, conduct spikes, develop PoCs, and deploy scalable, thoroughly tested production code.</li><li>Maintain and refine existing applications to ensure consistent alignment with established SLOs.</li><li>Participate in agile ceremonies, contribute to RFC/ADR documentation, and perform peer code reviews to maintain high engineering standards.</li><li>Enhance observability and reliability of applications/components by implementing logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards, and alerting that support incident triage, root‑cause analysis, and continuous improvement.<br><br></li></ul>What you’ll bring<br><br><ul><li>Hands-on experience in building and deploying web applications, Python-based backend APIs and major cloud infrastructures (AWS, GCP, or Azure).</li><li>4+ years of relevant professional experience in software development.</li><li>Experience with some of the following: FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Pydantic, Celery.</li><li>Practical experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps practices and tools (Github Actions, Git-based workflows).</li><li>Strong foundation in Algorithms, Data Structures, and performance optimization techniques for scalable applications.</li><li>Experience with relational databases (like Postgres) and familiarity with NoSQL databases (like Redis) is an advantage.</li><li>Proactive mindset for learning new technologies, robust work ethic, commitment to resolving technical challenges, and responsibility.</li><li>Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts.<br><br></li></ul>Nice to have<br><br><ul><li>Exposure to Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI development tools (Claude, Copilot).</li><li>Data engineering background or interest, familiarity with NumPy, pandas, Polars is a plus.</li><li>Experience with full-stack development with Typescript and React is a plus.<br><br></li></ul>The Canadian CAD base salary range for this full-time position is 106,000.00 - 132,000.00. Your base pay will depend on your experience, skills, education, training, and location among other factors. All full-time positions or part-time roles working 30 hours or more a week at Guidewire are eligible for benefits that support their health and well-being including health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and a company sponsored retirement plan.
