Senior Information Technology Project Manager

<p>We are looking for a <strong> Senior IT Project Manager </strong>for a <strong>12-month contract position, with possible extensions</strong> in <strong>Calgary, Alberta.</strong> <strong>Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.</strong></p><p><br></p><p><strong>This position is 100% onsite in downtown Calgary. 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week. It is NOT a remote role.</strong></p><p><br></p><p><strong>Role Description</strong></p><p>Our client is seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to lead the delivery of large, complex enterprise technology and business transformation initiatives. Reporting to the Manager, Major Project Delivery within Data & Information Technology (D&IT), this role will provide strategic leadership and oversight for high-profile programs, ensuring successful delivery through effective planning, governance, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional collaboration.</p><p>The successful candidate will bring approximately 15+ years of project and program management experience, a proven ability to lead large-scale initiatives, and exceptional leadership skills. Strong Prosci process and management experience required.This individual will work closely with business leaders, technology teams, systems integrators, and external vendors to ensure programs are delivered on time, within budget, within scope, and aligned with organizational objectives.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Lead the end-to-end delivery of large, complex technology and business transformation programs.</li><li>Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with defined business objectives.</li><li>Establish and maintain effective project governance, controls, reporting, and risk management processes.</li><li>Provide strong leadership across cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance.</li><li>Build and maintain trusted relationships with executive sponsors, business leaders, technology teams, systems integrators, and external vendors.</li><li>Effectively communicate project status, risks, issues, and recommendations to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.</li><li>Develop, maintain, and manage strategic program roadmaps aligned with business priorities and corporate objectives.</li><li>Identify dependencies, risks, resourcing requirements, and opportunities to optimize program outcomes.</li><li>Ensure project priorities remain aligned with changing business needs and organizational strategy.</li><li>Partner with business and technology stakeholders to define objectives, requirements, scope, and success criteria.</li><li>Translate business needs into actionable project plans and delivery strategies.</li><li>Ensure solutions are scalable, sustainable, and support long-term business goals.</li><li>Manage relationships with systems integrators, consulting partners, and third-party vendors.</li><li>Oversee contract deliverables, service levels, budgets, and performance expectations.</li><li>Ensure external partners remain aligned with project objectives and execution plans.</li><li>Coordinate efforts across multiple business and technology teams.</li><li>Drive prioritization of work, resolve resource conflicts, and remove delivery obstacles.</li><li>Ensure appropriate allocation and utilization of program resources.</li><li>Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and success metrics.</li><li>Provide regular program reporting to leadership teams and steering committees.</li><li>Drive data-informed decision-making to improve project outcomes and delivery effectiveness.</li><li>Lead organizational change management activities associated with major technology and business initiatives.</li><li>Support stakeholder adoption through effective communication, engagement, and transition planning.</li><li>Proven ability to lead large, complex programs and influence decision-making across all levels of the organization.</li><li>Ability to drive stakeholder adoption and manage organizational impacts.</li><li>Track record of delivering measurable business value through successful project execution.</li><li>Strong focus on accountability, quality, and continuous improvement.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Required Skills and Experience </strong></p><ul><li><strong>PMP (Project Management Professional) certification preferred.</strong></li><li><strong>Additional certifications such as Agile/Scrum, Prosci Change Management, SAFe, or ITIL are considered assets.</strong></li><li><strong>15+ years of progressive project and program management experience, including leadership of large-scale enterprise technology and business transformation initiatives.</strong></li><li>Demonstrated success managing multi-million-dollar budgets and complex, cross-functional programs.</li><li>Experience leading geographically dispersed teams and multiple workstreams simultaneously.</li><li>Strong background managing executive stakeholders, steering committees, and external vendors.</li><li>Demonstrated experience working with executive leadership teams and steering committees.</li><li>Deep expertise in project, program, and portfolio management principles.</li><li>Strong governance, planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and delivery capabilities.</li><li>Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills.</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences, including executive stakeholders.</li><li>Ability to align programs with broader organizational strategy and business objectives.</li><li>Skilled at balancing long-term vision with short-term execution priorities.</li><li>Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities.</li><li>Proven ability to navigate ambiguity and resolve complex organizational and project challenges.</li><li>Experience managing third-party vendors, consulting organizations, and systems integrators.</li><li>Strong commercial acumen and contract management experience.</li><li>Demonstrated success leading organizational change and business transformation
