Your Opportunity BDO Canada LLP is looking for a Senior Consultant / Consultant, Risk Advisory Services to join our Risk Advisory team. This is a new role. As part of BDO's Risk Advisory Services practice, you will work with clients across a variety of industries to assess financial performance, evaluate internal control environments, support financial due diligence engagements, and provide insights that help organizations make informed business decisions. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong accounting or finance background who enjoy analyzing financial information, identifying trends and risks, evaluating business processes, and helping organizations strengthen their control environments. Our work includes financial due diligence, internal control reviews, controls testing, internal audits, risk and controls assessments, financial process reviews, and other advisory engagements designed to improve governance, risk management, and operational effectiveness. Your Responsibilities Support and execute financial due diligence engagements, including analyzing historical financial statements, identifying key trends, assessing earnings quality, and evaluating financial performance. Analyze financial and operational data to identify risks, opportunities, anomalies, and key business insights. Perform financial statement analysis, including ratio analysis, trend analysis, variance analysis, and benchmarking. Document, assess, and test the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting and key business processes. Conduct walkthroughs and interviews with client personnel to understand financial processes, risks, and controls. Prepare clear and concise working papers, analyses, reports, and client deliverables. Assist in planning and executing internal audit, controls, and risk advisory engagements. Identify process improvement opportunities and practical recommendations to strengthen internal controls, financial reporting processes, and operational effectiveness. Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients and team members. Maintain a proactive and analytical approach to information gathering, problem-solving, and client service. Support the development of methodologies, templates, and tools that enhance service delivery and engagement quality. Contribute to a collaborative team environment and participate in ongoing learning and professional development opportunities. How Do We Define Success for Your Role? Your Experience and Education You have completed a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field. You have completed, are pursuing, or have a strong interest in pursuing a professional designation such as CPA, Master of Accounting (MAcc), CFA, CIA, or a similar credential. You have 2–5 years of relevant professional experience in accounting, audit, financial due diligence, transaction services, financial advisory, internal audit, risk advisory, or a related field. (Consultant: 1–3 years; Senior Consultant: 3–5 years.) You possess strong knowledge of financial statements, accounting principles, financial analysis techniques, and internal control concepts. You have experience performing financial statement analysis, trend analysis, ratio analysis, and interpreting financial results. Experience assessing and testing internal controls or participating in audit engagements is considered an asset. You demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and can communicate complex information clearly and effectively. You are highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. You thrive in a collaborative and client-focused environment. You have or qualify to obtain Government of Canada security clearance. Bilingualism (English and French) is considered a strong asset due to frequent communications and interactions with clients across Canada.
