Network Engineer, Foundation Services Automation

Meta is looking for a talented, engineer to join the Edge and Network Services team. This team is responsible for processes and systems for deploying and supporting one of the world's largest, most complex, and robust networks. Automation is the key to meeting our demands; you will be responsible for executing on our vision for integrating detection, triaging and directed repair into our pipeline for networks supporting AI/ML applications. As a member of this team, you will have a unique opportunity to be involved in all aspects of global networking at Meta. This position is full-time and based in the US. Responsibilities Automation and integration into existing pipelines, alerting, triage and repair for IP, Ethernet, and non-Ethernet networks Improve efficiency through automation and processes improvements Collaborate with internal and cross functional partner teams to define and automate optimal workflows for network deployment and repair Proactively find gaps that impact multiple teams/orgs, come up with the execution plan and drive the project and influence other teams to reach there Develop automated methods to detect, mitigate and remediate network events Work with partner teams, understand their challenges, help them find a solution natively or lead effort working with cross-functional teams to deliver systems/platforms/tooling Help with recruiting and onboarding of new members to the team. Help them by mentoring and assuring their quick ramp up within our environment Perform detailed troubleshooting and engage with cross-functional teams to fix system/tooling issues Drive requirements with cross functional teams to align our internal tooling efforts Help make the people around you move faster by identifying issues slowing the team down and driving changes to address them Minimum Qualifications 10+ years of experience Automation experience in the Networking domain in large scale networks Knowledge and Experience with Layer 2 & Layer 3 technologies Knowledge and experience with Rest APIs Experience leveraging AI-assisted tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot, code generation models) for software development and coding efficiency Experience with network devices (routers, switches, load balancers) Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience Knowledge and experience in Python Knowledge of Linux OS/networking Experience working autonomously within a globally distributed team, managing priorities and driving projects to completion Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements) Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews) Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews) Experience with developing or operating distributed systems at scale MS or Graduate work experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline Knowledge and experience in C, C++, Go or Rust Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements) Experience evaluating and adopting technologies based on project requirements rather than platform preference Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies $162,000/year to $227,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
