About AI Training Work
AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. People prepare and review examples, including labeled images and video, so modern AI systems can learn to interpret the world more accurately. This work is remote, flexible, and part of a fast-growing technology industry.
The Role
OpenTrain is hiring a Hand Landmark Annotation Specialist for AI training work focused on hand keypoint annotation. You will work with hand images and videos showing varied poses, orientations, perspectives, and occlusions. Your annotations and written feedback will help AI systems learn from structured human expertise.
Prior AI training experience is not required unless stated elsewhere on this job page. The role requires strong real-world knowledge of hand anatomy, careful attention to detail, and the ability to apply detailed annotation instructions consistently.
- Part-time remote contractor role
- Estimated commitment of 20+ hours per week
- Project duration of approximately 1 to 3 months
- Flexible scheduling
- Worldwide opportunity
- English fluency required
What You'll Do
- Annotate hand and finger landmarks using MediaPipe-style hand topology while following strict accuracy guidelines.
- Identify and mark the wrist, MCP, PIP, DIP, fingertips, and thumb-specific joints, including the CMC, MCP, IP, and thumb tip.
- Precisely place landmarks according to defined annotation protocols and tolerance thresholds.
- Infer and annotate partially occluded or visually challenging joints by reasoning through complex hand positions and object interactions.
- Interpret a wide range of hand poses, orientations, and perspectives across image and video data.
- Review visual feedback, identify deviations from requirements, and make targeted corrections to maintain annotation quality at scale.
Requirements
This is an entry-level opportunity, but the work requires specialized knowledge of hand structure and hand keypoint annotation. You should be comfortable working independently on remote contractor tasks and maintaining consistent quality across a substantial volume of visual data.
- Relevant professional, academic, or language expertise in hand keypoint annotation
- Deep understanding of hand anatomy, including the wrist, MCP, PIP, and DIP joints
- Understanding of thumb-specific joints, including the CMC, MCP, and IP
- Experience with MediaPipe-style hand topology or keypoint annotation
- Ability to accurately annotate partially occluded hand landmarks using visual reasoning
- Strong written communication and careful attention to detail
- Ability to follow detailed project instructions and apply rubrics consistently
- Comfort working with image and video data and strict annotation protocols
Pay And Schedule
This flexible project is estimated at about 20 hours per week over 1 to 3 months. The role pays $15 to $80 per hour, with estimated project earnings of $2,400 to $12,800 based on the schedule and duration shown on OpenTrain.
- Payment type: hourly

- Hourly range: $15 to $80
- Estimated weekly commitment: 20+ hours
- Employment type: part-time contractor
