Food Service Assistant - Food Court
Costco is hiring a Food Service Assistant – Food Court at its Scarborough, ON location (1411 Warden Avenue, M1R 2S3). This hourly position involves preparing and selling food and drinks to members, pulling and stocking supplies and ingredients, cleaning the kitchen and eating area, and providing prompt and courteous member service.
Daily Tasks and Responsibilities
- Prepares hot food including pizzas (rolling, shaping, adding toppings, baking), slices pizza, puts baked items in warmer, steams hot dogs and buns, operates deep fryers.
- Rings up sales, collects money, makes change. Takes whole pizza orders at the counter and over the phone. Assembles and presents orders to customers. Uses tongs to pick up hot food items. Follows department production and cash handling procedures.
- Dispenses dessert and drink items such as frozen yogurt, lattes, and smoothies. Cleans, sanitizes, services, and refills dispensing machines.
- Maintains self-serve pop area, condiment table, and eating area. Busses, cleans and sanitizes tables, sweeps and mops floors, empties trash.
- Cleans and sanitizes machines, work surfaces, floors, pans, utensils, and counters. Takes garbage to trash compactor and operates compactor. Follows safety and security procedures.
- Pulls ingredients and supplies from warehouse. Stocks large volume ingredients to shelves, cooler, and freezer. Stages ingredients to preparation area and refills dispensing machines. Complies with health codes including sanitation, temperatures, product rotation, and expiration dates.
- Assists in other areas of the warehouse as necessary.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Food Safety Certification – Level 1 required on first day in position.
- No prior experience required.
- For Quebec locations, candidates must be able to communicate in French (oral and written).
