Criminal Defence Litigation Lawyer (Toronto / Hybrid)

We handle a broad range of criminal matters and are committed to strategic advocacy, strong client relationships, and high-quality legal work.</span></p><p><br></p><p><strong>Role Description:</strong></p><p><span>We are seeking a Junior Litigation Lawyer to join our Toronto-based team. You will have the opportunity to work directly with clients, get experience in Court and have meaningful and challenging work. This is a full-time, hybrid position offering mentorship from Senior Counsel, early responsibility over files and an opportunity to build your own niche and practice within the firm.</span></p><p><span>This role is ideal for a motivated lawyer looking to build strong litigation skills in a fast-paced criminal defence practice.</span></p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities: </strong></p><ul><li><span>Assist Senior Counsel with case preparation and strategy</span></li><li><span>Conduct legal research and draft high-quality legal materials (pleadings, briefs, correspondence)</span></li><li><span>Attend court (in-person and virtual) for adjournments, bail matters, sentencings, and other appearances</span></li><li><span>Manage carriage of assigned files with appropriate supervision</span></li><li><span>Communicate effectively with clients, Crown counsel, and court staff</span></li><li><span>Support administrative and file management tasks as required</span></li><li><span>Occaisional travel to our Regina, Saskatchewan office and assist in Court there\</span></li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li><span>Licensed and currently in good standing with either the Law Society of Ontario or the Law Society of Saskatchewan </span></li><li><span>Strong legal writing and research skills (kindly have a writing sample available)</span></li><li><span>Excellent oral advocacy and communication abilities</span></li><li><span>Ability to manage multiple files and deadlines independently</span></li><li><span>Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills</span></li><li><span>Prior criminal law experience is an asset</span></li><li><span>Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal practice software</span></li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>What We Offer:</strong></p><ul><li><span>Above Industry Salary and Bonus for a total compensation package that is competitive and based on candidates experience</span></li><li><span>Direct mentorship and meaningful courtroom exposure</span></li><li><span>Opportunity to take ownership of files early in your career</span></li><li><span>Supportive, collaborative team environment</span></li><li><span>Hybrid work flexibility</span></li></ul>
