AltaGas - Sr. Sourcing Specialist

<strong>Job Description<br><br></strong>The Senior Sourcing Specialist is responsible for the end-to-end sourcing, procurement, and contract lifecycle management of complex goods and services supporting AltaGas’ major capital projects. This role leads competitive sourcing initiatives, supplier selection, commercial and contractual negotiations, purchase order issuance, and contract management activities, including administration, amendments, change management, claims, and closeout, in accordance with AltaGas Supply Chain policies and procedures. Partnering closely with Project Management, Engineering, Legal, Finance, and Supply Chain stakeholders, the Senior Sourcing Specialist drives commercial value, manages contractual and supply chain risk, and ensures alignment with project scope, schedule, and commercial objectives. The role serves as a trusted advisor, providing commercial guidance, supporting supplier and contracting decisions, and continuously improving procurement and contract management practices.<br><br><strong>Tasks And Responsibilities<br><br></strong><ul><li>Lead sourcing and procurement activities in accordance with AltaGas Supply Chain policies and procedures.</li><li>Develop sourcing strategies and execute competitive sourcing events, including RFXs, supplier evaluations, and market assessments.</li><li>Identify, evaluate, and recommend suppliers based on commercial, technical, operational, and risk considerations.</li><li>Lead commercial and contractual negotiations to optimize value, performance, and risk allocation.</li><li>Recommend appropriate contracting and compensation models based on project scope, complexity, market conditions, and risk profile.</li><li>Manage the full contract lifecycle: Prepare, negotiate, execute, and manage contracts and purchase orders throughout their lifecycle, including amendments, claims, renewals, and closeout.</li><li>Provide commercial guidance to stakeholders on sourcing strategies, supplier selection, contract structures, and commercial risks.</li><li>Monitor supplier performance, contract compliance, commercial obligations, and spend commitments.</li><li>Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial, contractual, supplier, and supply chain risks.</li><li>Validate invoices, manage commercial reconciliations, and support the resolution of contractual disputes and claims.</li><li>Provide commercial guidance and market intelligence to stakeholders and support supplier selection decisions.</li><li>Build and maintain strong supplier and stakeholder relationships.</li><li>Identify opportunities to improve processes, optimize costs, and enhance procurement and contracting practices.</li><li>Maintain procurement and contract documentation to support governance, compliance, and audit readiness.<br><br><br></li></ul><strong>Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:<br><br></strong><strong>Required<br><br></strong><ul><li>Relevant degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field.</li><li>8+ years of progressive sourcing, procurement, contract management or supply chain experience.</li><li>Strong experience leading competitive sourcing events and commercial negotiations.</li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of procurement best practices, contract formation, supplier management.</li><li>Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.</li><li>Strong understanding of project execution, contract lifecycles, and commercial management principles.</li><li>Strong experience in claims, change management, and contract law.</li><li>Strong communication, influencing, and negotiating skills.</li><li>Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.</li><li>Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.<br><br><br></li></ul><strong>Preferred / Assets<br><br></strong><ul><li>SCMP or equivalent professional designation.</li><li>Experience with EPC/EPCM, construction, engineering, equipment, services or material supply agreements.</li><li>Experience supporting major capital projects and/or energy sector.</li><li>Experience with sourcing methodologies, commercial evaluation and supplier qualification processes.</li><li>Oracle ERP or similar procurement system experience.<br><br><br></li></ul><strong>Key Success Factors<br><br></strong><ul><li>Strong commercial judgment, negotiation effectiveness, and proactive risk management.</li><li>Ability to effectively manage contracts, changes, claims, and supplier performance throughout the contract lifecycle.</li><li>Strong collaboration, influence, and organizational skills with a focus on governance, compliance, and business results.<br><br><br></li></ul><strong>Why work at AltaGas?<br><br></strong><strong>AltaGas</strong> is a North American energy infrastructure company with a focus on owning and operating assets that provide affordable energy to our customers.
